Aireon usually relies on the power of our data to move aviation forward, but this past weekend Team Aireon was “advancing aviation” in a different way by participating in the Dulles Day Plane Pull, benefiting Special Olympics Virginia.

For the third year in a row, Team Aireon competed against 85 other teams from organizations across Northern Virginia to see which team can pull an airplane – either a FedEx Boeing 757 or United Airlines Boeing 737 – 12 feet in the shortest amount of time.

Led by team captain Linh Spies, Aireon’s Senior Director of Human Resources, the Aireon team had a total of 35 participants, made up of employees and employee family members. Team Aireon pulled a Boeing 737 in 7.42 seconds, ranking second out of other teams that pulled the same plane.
For Aireon, the Dulles Day Plane Pull combines two key objectives – community connection and employee engagement. The team was able to come together to raise money for our community in a fun and cooperative environment.
The funds raised at this event will help Special Olympics Virginia provide year-round sports training, competition, leadership opportunities, and health services to more than 20,000 athletes of all abilities, making a difference in countless lives. Team Aireon raised a total of $3,495 and from all the donations made, Special Olympics Virginia was able to reach their $600,000 goal!
Aireon looks forward to participating next year and hope we can beat our time and raise even more money in 2026 to support Special Olympics Virginia’s incredible mission.
