Aireon is introducing live, real-time flight events data via its AireonINSIGHTS product family, delivering the complete flight story from transponder-on to transponder-off and every event in between.
The AireonINSIGHTS Flight Events data stream highlights critical moments in a flight, designed for users to receive surveillance-grade coverage and analytics without the need to sift through the huge volumes of data that comes with continuous ADS-B flight tracking messages. AireonINSIGHTS Flight Events reduces complexity for the end user and delivers the information in an easy-to-integrate format.
AireonINSIGHTS Flight Events is generated by leveraging Aireon’s satellite-based ADS-B network to receive aircraft position, velocity, and identification information. Aireon’s unique global coverage ensures that flight data is captured anywhere on the planet, including remote oceanic and polar regions.
Here is an overview of how the Flight Events data is created and how ADS-B data is transformed into actionable flight events:
- Satellite ADS-B Reception: Aireon’s space-based receivers pick up ADS-B broadcasts from equipped aircraft worldwide. These broadcasts contain critical flight parameters such as latitude, longitude, altitude, velocity, and aircraft identification data.
- Secure Data Transfer: Once Aireon satellites collect the ADS-B messages, the data is securely transmitted to ground stations and relayed to our infrastructure.
- Data Integrity and Custody: Our system ensures a secure record of each ADS-B message, ensuring transparency and traceability. We employ encrypted data storage, industry-standard access controls, and rigorous backup procedures to maintain data integrity and reliability.
- Message Parsing: Upon receiving the ADS-B messages, our platform processes each broadcast to extract information such as flight identifier, timestamps, coordinates, altitude, heading, and speed.
- Flight Correlation: Our system then correlates individual messages to create a continuous flight profile. By linking these messages, we can all flight events beginning from aircraft takeoff to landing, including key phases like cruise and approach.
- Automated Event Detection: Using advanced algorithms, Aireon analyzes the data stream and generates timestamps and details for key flight events.
