The Aireon team is saddened to learn of Secretary Mineta’s passing yesterday. Secretary Mineta served as Chairman of the Aireon Advisory Board since its inception in 2012 and was instrumental in helping Aireon create a truly historic product that provides real-time surveillance of aircraft anywhere in the world.
“The aviation industry lost a visionary and outstanding leader with the passing of Norman Mineta,” said Don Thoma, Aireon CEO. “It was a great honor to know and work with Secretary Mineta. He devoted his life to improving transportation safety, and the broader aviation community will be forever grateful for his contributions.
