Aireon Highlights Summer 2026 Interns on National Intern Day

National Intern Day, celebrated each year on July 30, recognizes the valuable contributions interns make within workplaces, organizations, and communities. Today, we celebrate this summer’s class of interns — Jack Zamary and Austin Wysocki — and the meaningful impact they made during their time with Aireon!

Throughout their internships, Jack and Austin brought fresh perspectives, dedication, and enthusiasm to their teams. We are excited to highlight their experiences and share a glimpse into their contributions this summer.

Jack Zamary:

My name is Jack Zamary, and I am a Data Science Intern on the Modeling & Analysis (M&A) team. This Fall, I will be entering my senior year at William & Mary where I am majoring in Data Science with a minor in Biology.

During my summer internship at Aireon, I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the aviation industry, develop my analytical skills, and collaborate on projects alongside other members of the M&A team. These opportunities have allowed me to gain hands-on experience working with complex, real-world datasets, helping me to strengthen and build my data science toolkit. A highlight of my internship was working on engineering new dataset features and presenting the subsequent results and model workflow in front of the Aireon Engineering team.

Beyond my work with the M&A team, Aireon’s internship program was full of informative learning and development sessions that the Aireon interns attended alongside the Iridium interns. The opportunity to talk with industry professionals and attend networking events allowed me to develop my professional skills while learning from leaders in the field. I also enjoyed the intern events including playing Topgolf, getting lost in an escape room, and watching the World Cup with the Aireon team!

Since my very first day, everyone in the office was extremely welcoming and friendly! It was fun chatting with colleagues who stopped by my desk to say hi and introduce themselves. As my internship concludes, I will miss the welcoming environment, collaborative culture, and passion that everyone brings to Aireon. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside such an amazing team and learn from so many talented individuals.

Austin Wysocki:

My name is Austin Wysocki, and I am a Software Engineering intern on the Product Development team at Aireon. I am also a Graduate student at Virginia Tech pursuing a Master’s Degree in Applied AI and Machine Learning.

This summer marked my second summer with Aireon as an intern, and it was an incredible opportunity to build on the work I started last summer. Being able to come back and expand on the internal systems and tools I previously created made the experience feel even more rewarding and meaningful. Throughout the summer, I worked on developing internal systems and tools aimed at streamlining the development of the engineering process. I gained hands-on experience across a wide range of areas, including Large Language Model (LLM) Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), end-to-end system design, data integration, data analysis, testing, and software development. I also had the opportunity to apply my machine learning skills to build a variety of models trained on Aireon’s massive arsenal of data, which directly tied into my graduate studies and was incredibly exciting to work on in a practical setting.

One of the highlights of my internship was the exposure I gained beyond the Product Development team. I had the chance to collaborate with and learn from several teams across the company, including Modeling & Analysis, Sales, Marketing, and Product Management. Getting the broader view of how a business operates was something I truly valued and didn’t expect to be exposed to as an intern.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my two summers with the Aireon Internship Program.
