Rich Nyren

Chief Financial Officer

Richard Nyren joins Aireon as the Chief Financial Officer. Nyren was previously with Iridium Communications for over six years, most recently as Chief Accounting Officer.

Nyren joined Aireon in July 2017 and serves as Chief Financial Officer responsible for the management of the global financial strategy and day to day financial functions of Aireon including accounting, corporate finance, treasury, and tax.

Nyren has over 20 years’ experience as a financial professional with both Big 4 Public Accounting and publicly held companies. From August 2011 to June 2017, Nyren held positions at Iridium Communications, a publicly traded communications company, most recently as Chief Accounting Officer. Prior to that, Nyren served as Corporate Controller for XO Communications, then a publicly traded telecommunications company, and as Corporate Controller for Fairchild Corporation, then a publicly traded international diversified holding company.

Nyren holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from George Mason University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland-College Park. Nyren also maintains a Certified Public Accounting (CPA) License.

Thoma currently serves as a member of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) Executive Committee, which is accountable for the overall performance of CANSO and served as Chairman of the Hosted Payload Alliance (HPA), an industry trade group that works to advance the use of hosted payloads on commercial satellites.

Prior to joining Iridium, Thoma served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for ObjectVideo, Inc and has held various positions of responsibility at ORBCOMM, ranging from Senior Director of Transportation to Founder and General Manager of the Vantage Tracking Solutions Business Unit and Vice President of Business Development. Prior to ORBCOMM. Thoma’s experience included Director of Integration and Launch Operations for Orbital Sciences Corporation.

Thoma served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Space Division and holds a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
