Jonathan Astill is acting as Vice President and General Manager of Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) Services, tapped for strategic support, from UK NATS, to lead the development and launch of Aireon’s ATFM business line.
Astill contributes 30 years of experience in a widespread of aviation roles, ranging from technical, change management and operational management to the Aireon team. For the first 10 years of his career, he was an operational Air Traffic Controller.
In the most recent years, Astill has served as the Director of Alliances, Airline and International Affairs for NATS, the UK Air Navigation Service Provider. In this role, he was responsible for NATS’ global engagement across the aviation industry to further develop the regulatory, political and business landscapes. This allowed him to create a catalogue of strong relationships with NATS’ airline customers, cross-industry alliances and multi-product collaborations.
Astill is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and until joining Aireon was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the SESAR Deployment Alliance, a non-profit company with members from Airlines, Airports and Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs). He is serving his second term as Europe, Africa and Middle East Director on the board of U.S.-based Air Traffic Control Association.
