FAA’s dire funding situation and Aireon announced global flight tracking

I would hate to be in FAA Administrator Michael Huerta’s shoes these days. In presenting the agency’s FY 2016 budget request, he and his team are doing the best they can to set priorities among conflicting demands to address a long-standing shortfall in “sustainment” of aging facilities and technology while moving forward with the most important NextGen investments.
