CAAS ties up with Aireon to enhance tracking capability

THE Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has tied up with air navigation solution provider Aireon in hope of better tracking aircrafts and improving surveillance across airspace monitored by the country’s air traffic controllers.

This involves deploying the space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) service, which would allow the real positions of aircraft equipped with such a software to be tracked when they fly within the Singapore Flight Information Region (FIR).
